Mr. Vampire is a 1971 horror film directed by Riccardo Freda and starring Vincent Price. The elixir is made from the blood of vampires, which turns one into a vampire in order to destroy all of them. When his granddaughter shows him the elixir, he drinks it and becomes Mr. Vainnerious, able to continue living indefinitely as a vampire even without drinking human blood himself because he believes his human blood has been replaced with animal juice by the elixir. He plans on leaving town with her to begin a new life in Europe, but she reveals that she gave him animal blood instead of vampire's blood and is going to take her grandfather's witch doctor shoes back after defeating him in battle. She succeeds with the help of her boyfriend, Mr. Vampire II, and the witch doctor's shoes are returned to his friend who takes over the control of Mr. Vainnerious' body.Vincent Price would go on to play Barnabas Collins in the cult TV show "Dark Shadows", which was also directed by Riccardo Freda.The film was released on DVD by Anchor Bay Entertainment in 2003.
